Dwindling crowds, sloppy defense or toothless attack, what has been the real problem for The Lions this season? The reason behind writing this in the wake of a roaring victory against the title contender Bengaluru FC was that it was not a temporary state anguish that was masking the real core of this article.

Every Delhi fan has to admit that even though we have been unlucky to see a few decisions go against us but in total, our performance has just been a meek shadow of the past seasons. Delhi Dynamos was a team that scored for fun and loved to demolish the visiting teams at the Den but all this are memories of the past. The Lions , barring the match against the Eagles, has been tamed at the Den by oppositions. Perennial league strugglers NEUFC stunned the JLN as they exploited our weak defense on the way to their 2-0 thumping of the Lions. Jamshedpur has found the goals hard to come by but at the JLN they too walked away with a 1-0 victory. All this said a few decisions have gone against us all because of some poor refereeing, Cichero and Mirabaje never deserved red and these moments turned the game in oppositions favor. But we can't hide behind two decision for the whole season, we have to admit we have been way below average this season.

<div style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, sans, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">
The decision to not retain any of the star Indian players last season has been a rather great move because the current squad has some scintillating young talent. The young Indian members of the team have put in some brilliant performances and the foreign signings like Cichero, Mirabaje, Paulinho , Lumu, and Edu have also more or less impressed the Dynamos faithful. So where is the problem at? We look like a team of individual performers more than a cohesive unit. The match against Bengaluru showed that if the players play like a team they can cause havoc.

<div style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, sans, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">

<div style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, sans, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">
Just after Kerala match, you could come across a "section" of the fans calling for a certain "someone" to be ousted from the helm of the club. The views here aren't as extreme as theirs but we do feel there have been some errors on the part of the backstage team . Ticket pricing is one such issue, the fans in Delhi are mostly college going students and a 2.5x surge in ticketing has been the telling factor in the reduced footfall. Indecision in how to treat fans has been as comical as the Government policies during demonitisation. It can be easily seen that passion of the fans is overlooked if your boot-licking skills are of the best level. Importance to fans is given on the basis of how much can they boast the ego of "some". It really is a sad situation but then what say do fans have here. Still a shout out to the fans who still go out and support the team in the stadium in the current scenario

<div style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, sans, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">

<div style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, sans, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">
Just as every black cloud has a silver lining our silver lining this season this season has been our young players, the blazing runs that Chhangte makes are ones to savor and Vinit's solid all around game is a joy to watch. We will still play for pride this season but will be back stronger next season.

Three back to back defeats, two defeats at home where the lions were unbeaten last season, injuries to key players, failing to find the net in two consecutive games and playing some of the strongest teams in their first 4 games, nothing has been easy for the Lions in this season of Hero Indian Super League.

Delhi Dynamos is set to play a very lethal FC Goa on 16th, and the timing could not have been worse, Albino Gomez injured himself during Jamshedpur FC game and is expected to be out for a long time, Mirabaje is struggling with a muscle injury and is not expected to start against Goa, Sena Ralte and Edu Moya might also miss out.

Dynamos would have to come out with the Lions attitude, the same attitude that Delhi Dynamos was known for, even after going one man down they would fight like it was all that they wanted, we have seen some glimpses of this in Lumu and Vinit, but the whole team would have to join if they want to get a favourable result against Goa.

FC Goa can be defeated, we have seen it happen this year, and it will happen again if Lions put up a fight against them this Saturday at home.

Yes, the odds are against us, we are struggling with injuries and bad luck but at the end of the day, we are the lions. We showed what we are capable of in our first game and we will have to repeat that against Goa.

Author's Take

We will have to wait and watch how the team responds on 16th, the league is just 4 matches old and anything can happen as we have seen in the previous seasons of ISL. The lions will surely come out and fight with all that they have and we fans have to get behind them and let them know that we are there to support them no matter what. #RoarWithTheLions

Delhi Dynamos have had always performed better than the season before, every season they have had a different coach and not many players are retained from the previous season. Still, they have become stronger and stronger by the season.

In season 1 Delhi had a very slow start but they picked up at the end of the season and the heroics of Dos Santos almost helped Delhi Dynamos qualify for the first ever play-offs of ISL.

That Delhi Dynamos team was a classic one, With the likes of Allesandro del Piero, Hans Mulder, Mads Junker and Gustavo Dos Santos they became one of the toughest team to defeat. And the magical performance of Dos Santos is still fresh in the minds of Dynamos fans.

Season 2 Delhi Dynamos star signings

Season 2 was even better with the superstar signings like Real Madrid legend Roberto Carlos, Liverpool legend John Arne Riise and Chelsea winger Florent Malouda, it was a dream come true for the fans not only from the capital but from all over the country to see them play for Delhi Dynamos in India.

The Lions retained Dos Santos, Hans Mulder, and Souvik and signed amazing players like Anas Edathodika and Robin Singh who performed brilliantly under Roberto Carlos's guidance.

Season 2 was the first time Delhi Dynamos witnessed the fierce attacking football that continued in season 3. Although this time Delhi Dynamos did not have Dos Santos, Hans Mulder, John Arne Riise, Robin Sigh and Roberto Carlos in the squad, Delhi did not suffer a bit.

This was because of the terrific display by the likes of Anas Edathodika, Souvik, and the new Lions among which Kean Lewis, Milan Singh, Tebar, and Marcelino were the most notable.

Marcelinho and Florent Malouda went on to win the Golden Boot and Golden ball for their brilliant display of beautiful football.

Season 3's Delhi Dynamos was arguably the best team ever seen in ISL and were favorites to win the title but due to unfortunate events in the second leg of the semifinal in Den Lions didn't qualify for the final.
Season 4 is a fresh chapter in Delhi Dynamos story, lions have come a long way from season 1 and the team has changed completely. This time the focus is on a young team which has the best young players from all over the country and is supported by highly experienced foreign players who can correctly guide them throughout the season.
Unless you are living under a rock, you’d probably know that the FIFA U17 World Cup is just a day away. This is the FIFA tournament that is happening in India and the first ( of many) FIFA tournament India is playing. We play all our group stage matches in Delhi.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium is ready to host the young Blue Tigers. Delhi, which is often accused of being ignorant about football, is ready to show the world that football does occupy a special place in its heart.

Fan groups from all over the country are gathering in the capital to support the young colts, among which we are also a part. For over a month these Indian Football fans have been busy preparing chants and posters for the country and the players.

You can put your money on JLN being converted into a fortress by the fans, it'll surely be a sight to behold. With the stadium already being sold out due to the efforts of various fan supporters group, the decibel levels will be sky high and hope the opposition brings their earplugs along.

The Blue Pilgrims, the fan group of the Indian Football team was recently formed by the integration of fan groups all around the country is a welcoming sign. They'll have a major role to play in supporting the Blue Tigers. But the Arena Army will also not be far behind and will give our very best to support our team, we have got our very own special chants prepared so do watch out Team USA.

The excitement and expectations of the fans are at an all-time high, you can almost sense it in Delhi’s air. The love for the game and the country has brought everyone together. You can be a Delhi Dynamos fan or a Mumbai FC fan but on 6th of October, all of us would be Indians just Indians. We all together will bring the house down( just figuratively).

The U17 team is full of talented, sincere and hardworking players, who have put all in for their country. Watching them play over the span of last 9-10 months has really up-ed our expectations. Being lucky enough to have interacted with few of the stars of the team, it suddenly dawns upon you that how humble they are even after achieving so much at such a young age, which is the true sign of champions.

AIFF has invested a lot in the young guys and rightly so. The facilities being provided to the U17 players is the best and the exposure tours have been a good learning curve. It is so great to see that sports other than cricket are being paid attention to.

The road for India regaining its supremacy in the Asian football is a long one, nothing is going to happen over a fortnight. But we have put in a lot over the last half a decade or so and I am confident that we'll surely rise again. The U17 FIFA World Cup is just the start towards achieving our goal. To be realistic, the chances of is being crowned champions at this event are not much but again only idiots get bogged down by probability.

If the lads put a performance that'll make the world stand up and take notice then they surely would have achieved the goal. If even one of the U17 player gets scouted and makes it to the European leagues, the World Cup will be a success. Remember Rome wasn’t built in a day but once built, it has always stood strong.
Delhi Dynamos went into the draft empty handed, leaving behind players like Anas Edathodika, Souvik Chakraborty, Kean Lewis and Milan Singh. While some considered it a very smart decision because they could enter the draft in the first round and get their hands on the best in demand Indian goalkeepers, at the same time it was equally risky to leave behind an tested winning team.

But the situation was different this time, with Gianluca Zambrotta deciding to leave Delhi Dynamos for Chinese Super League, Delhi was only left with two options. After bringing Miguel Angel Portugal as their new coach they could have either let coach Miguel Portugal to scout and handpick his own squad according to his style and philosophy or go with the second option which was to play with a team tailor made for Zambrotta to suit his style of play.

The Lions obviously had to go for the former, which was to let Miguel choose his own team even if it meant not retaining star players like Marcelinho, Anas, Kean, and Tebar. But that's not it, Delhi had some bigger plans in mind.

After partnering with Aspire Academy they made it clear that their main goal is the betterment of Indian football and they wanted to emulate something like Pillan Arrows. They went on prove it in the draft when they drafted young talents like Pritam Kotal, Chhangte, Vinit Rai and Romeo Fernandes. The average age of DDFC squad after the draft was 24 years which was pretty young.

Now Delhi Dynamos are left with young Indian talents and it's time to build a team of some experienced foreigners around them, who would highlight their skills and guide them to the right path.

Club Director Mr. Rohan Sharma revealed his vision in his tweets while talking to the fans on twitter.

The Author's Take

Delhi Dynamos have had 3 different coaches, three different teams who played three different styles of football. No player except Souvik Chakraborty has played more than three seasons in Delhi Dynamos shirt, so one thing is certain Delhi Dynamos are not new to this type of situation.

Every year they have outperformed the previous team and have been a consistent team despite having different players and this season is no different. With different coaches come different players and different style but the Lions are always the Lions.

Hopefully, this was the last player draft and this young Indian team would go on to be lions for a very long time. The fans have to put faith in the coach and the management and hope for the best.

Miguel Angel Portugal was introduced to the press and the fans on Monday in a gala ceremony held in National Capital. Miguel has signed on a one year deal earlier this month after a groundbreaking technical partnership with Doha based Aspire Academy.

Speaking to the media Miguel said "I saw a few of the Delhi Dynamos games on video and I was impressed with the player's attacking football. The club truly plays like a lion and it wasn't a difficult decision for me to sign up to play my part in shaping the club's future success."

Upon being asked about the clubs decision of not retaining any domestic player the coach answered "I have been watching hours and hours of footage from I league and ISL games with our team and we are fully prepared for the draft"

After being questioned about the brand of football the fans will see Delhi Dynamos play this season, he said "We will play to win, we will need to have possession of the ball but that has to be smart and intelligent possession"

As Portugal was coaching Atletico Paraneance in 2014, the same club for which Gustavo Dos Santos played, it was only natural that we asked him if there was any chance of seeing the fans favorite magician back in the team this season. To this, he said "Yes, Gustavo Dos Santos, Bruno Pellisari, and Jonathan Luca played for the club but in the second team" he further added "They are good players, we are going to observe and then we will take a decision"

Talking about the new kit design, Mr Rohan Sharma, Director, Delhi Dynamos FC said "I am not from Delhi, I was born in America but the one thing Delhi and I both have in common is we like looking good, I was not happy with the kit design last year but this year I got personally involved with my staff to really design an awesome kit that not only fans but people who don't like football would also want to wear"

Keeping in mind that they will get two early picks, fans can rest assured that some good players will be signed. It was made clear that Delhi Dynamos are working day and night to build a strong squad and Miguel is carefully analyzing every player. Some news about foreign players can also be expected before the draft as Mr. Rohan Sharma himself hinted in a tweet.

Signings?

Delhi Dynamos announced Miguel Ángel Portugal as their new manager this season, he will be the 4th Delhi Dynamos manager in as many seasons and a lot more would be expected from him as his predecessors have set the bar very high.

Miguel is a former Real Madrid player who went on to coach Real Madrid Casillas (B Team) and also served as Real Madrid's technical director and came very close to becoming their coach.

Unlike the last two legends, the Spanish has a vast coaching experience and is a very highly rated coach. Having managed the La Liga side Real Valladolid as early as in 2015. He also coached Atletico Paranaense in 2014 and the oldest Algerian football club CS Constantine.

What to expect?

Miguel is considered a football genius and has even authored a book on football, which is confirmed by the trust top clubs have shown in him. This means we can continue to see the brand of football Delhi Dynamos played under Carlos and Zambrotta.

The club director Rohan Sharma made it clear that it's up to the coach to decide who he wants to sign just like last season, this season too we will see a tailor made squad.
We may see a lot of Spanish players donning Delhi Dynamos jersey once again, Tebar's signing is almost confirmed, a possibility of Dos Santos's return can still not be denied as Portugal was coaching Atletico Paraneance in 2014. Ruben Rocha could also be preferred as the coach has worked with him.

Richard Gadze's chances of returning would be low also because he extended his stay at Zire Fk, and with the marquee player not mandatory anymore Florent Malouda could miss out despite being the best player in the league last season.

Marcelinho?

Last year's golden boot winner Marcelinho is a free agent now after dissolving his contract with Avai Fc in Brazilian top flight. There was a dispute between Marcelinho and the clubs management regarding nonpayments of dues which seems to have been sorted down but still, he has not been contacted by any club until now which he confirmed via his Twitter account.

Marcelinho will still be a hot property and a lot of clubs would be eager to get his services, now it's up to the new coach and the management to decide if they really want the fans favorite to continue playing for the club this season.

The fans would love to see the same squad but the possibility of that happening is almost nil, with the draft and new rules regarding signing domestic and foreign players, it impossible. And keeping AFC Cup in mind, we would need a different side this time, lets just wait to see what the future holds.

Richard Gadze, the 22 year old Ghanaian, impressed in his stint with the Azerbhaijan Premier League side Zire FK. Richard was a regular started in the league fixtures and the coach trusted him with his preferred center forward position.

Gadze saved the Azerbaijani side multiple times by scoring in the crucial moments to earn them valuable points, however it was not enough as Zire FK finished fourth in the league table which meant that they did not qualify for the European Cup qualifying rounds.

Richard Gadze made a total of 12 appearances for the club scoring 3 crucial goals. There were a lot of positives in his performance despite hitting post and missing sitters multiple times.

The Lion has already extended his stay in Zire FK, which was confirmed by Zire FK's official website, however it fails to mention whether it was on loan or a free transfer making his return to Delhi Dynamos doubtful. Fans can just hope that they see him in the colors of Delhi Dynamos this season, the rest depends on him.

Here's a latest clip of his performance.

ISL superstars like Marcelinho and Stiven Mendoza who are currently playing in the Brazilian top division league for Avai Fc and Corinthians respectively are hardly getting any playing time.

As we all know Brazil is a football obsessed nation, the level of the game is obviously very high compared to a country like India but the football in India is growing and it is only going to flourish in the coming years.

However, it is hard to understand why Indian Super League Golden boot winners like Marcelinho and Mendoza not getting enough playing time on the field. Although ISL's first ever golden boot winner Elano Blumer enjoyed a very good spell in the top division with Santos Fc (recently announced his retirement from football) then why can't an equally skilled player like Marcelinho and Mendoza (if not less) who achieved similar feats in India and in MLS do it too in Brazil.

Yes, Elano had experience of playing in the top leagues at the highest levels and is obviously a very loved figure in Brazil as he has represented Brazil in the World Cup, but if we look at it in terms of fitness the other two have an upper hand but sadly something is still missing in them which is stopping them from impressing their fellow Brazilians.

Another ISL star from Delhi Dynamos who played in the first two season is currently playing in the reserve side for Atletico Paranease another top division club in Brazil after failing to impress in the main team, It is very likely that the fan favorite Santos will be loaned back to Delhi if Zambrotta and the management showed interest.

Although, it is sad to see this, as fans we can only hope that this changes and our favorite stars enjoy a successful football career in the top leagues, but having these superstars back in ISL is always good for Indian football and the fans.

News

The Delhi Dynamos Lions have joined other clubs for the season and most probably will stay there until ISL season 4 begins. Here is a report on how they are doing at their respective clubs.

MARCELINHO

Marcelinho joined the newly promoted Brazilian top division club Avai FC on a season-long deal and wears the number 9 jersey at the club. His season has not really begun yet, he is rarely getting any playing time at the club and is mostly seen warming the bench. The ISL 2016 golden boot winner however played for more than 45 minutes in a recent finale, which is a sight of relief and the fans hope he gets many more starts for the club.

RICHARD GADZE

Richard Gadze is doing far better than Marcelinho, He has already scored two important goals for Zira FK in less than five matches and is getting good playing time.

Note: It is very hard to track Richard Gadze's performance as he is playing in Azerbaijan which is not that Youtube or say Internet-friendly(For English).

Toni Doblas is playing in the second division of Spanish league system in Extremadura UD along with fellow ISL mates ATK striker Iain Hume and Kerela Blasters midfielder Jusu. Toni is the number one goalkeeper for the club and starts for them in every match, he has continued his good form and is making great saves in Spain.

Richard Gadze along with Ruben Gonzalez have signed for new teams. Following Marcelinho who is on a season-long deal to Avai FC in the top tier of Brazilian football.

Gadze, the Ghanian lion has signed a short-term deal with the Azerbaijani side FC Zira on a short-term loan deal with a one-year option for renewal. He will stay there until the end of the season (end of April) and could stay longer. The Ghanian has reportedly turned down an offer to extend his contract with Delhi Dynamos FC.
Prashant Agarwal's departure from the club came in as a shock to everyone, for the first couple of days fans were left to wonder why Prashant decided to leave, Prashant clarified the situation with an emotional message for both the Delhi Dynamos family and fans.
Tweets and messages flooded in for the former President. Anas, Souvik, Florent Malouda, Toni Doblas, Ruben Roca and Robin Singh expressed their shock and wished Prashant all the best for his future.

In his message, Prashant says that "Even though I wouldn't want to go, However recent acts of the new investors have left me with no option ", this statement is enough for anyone to understand what must have happened.

So, before the third season of Indian Super League started, Den who was the sole stakeholder of Delhi Dynamos FC, sold 55% of their equity stake to GMS, and in November 2016 they further sold an additional 25% stake which meant that GMS now owned 80% of the share in the club.

Rohan Sharma, the new Director, and co-owner of Delhi Dynamos said in a recent interview to Indian Express that the club is not just about just one person, and the Delhi Dynamos fans deserve more than just reaching the semi-finals. He was also not impressed with clubs commercial progress and how everything was organized.

The club is currently undergoing lots of changes, many new faces are about to be introduced including our new President, as fans, we can only hope everything goes well and as planned so that we can start roaring again.

It's hard to imagine what Delhi Dynamos would look like without Prashant Agarwal but both him and the new owners wish that we prosper as a club and reach new heights.

Chennaiyan FC vs Delhi Dynamos FC

This was the opening match of the season, Lions were taking on the Defending champions away in their first match, Delhi took some time before unleashing waves of attack on Chennaiyan, Milan won a penalty and Marcelineho scored his first ever goal for the lions and from there on everything was smooth as butter, Marcelinho struck again to give Dynamos a one-goal lead just after Dudu had equalised. In the second half, Badji scored the 3rd goal for the lions.

Chennaiyan FC 1:3 Delhi Dynamos

This match was just the trailer of what Delhi was capable of, the Indians impressed as much as the foreigners.Delhi was clearly the strongest side and some people went on to predict Delhi winning the League.

Delhi Dynamos FC Vs Mumbai City FC

After the first win, Delhi cooled down a little bit. After a few draws it was time for the metro derby, I was there watching the game from stands, I had no idea about the thrills I was about to go through, Mumbai starting the goal fest with back to back two goals, Fans went silent in the stands shocked with what they had just witnessed but soon Delhi were to come back in the game, this time it was Gadze who brought us back in the game.

At half time it was 2:1 but the second half brought the real joy. Mumbai again took two goals lead by a strike by Sony Norde but today it was Gadze's day as he won a penalty and assisted another goal to keep Lions undefeated at home. At full time it was:-

Delhi Dynamos FC 3:3 Mumbai City FC

Soon after this match, Delhi lost their first match against Kolkata away but that made the team even stronger, as they went on to thrash Goa, Chennai, and Kerala before the return fixture.

It was time for Kolkata to face the lions at their den, and what a match it was, Delhi conceded an early goal thanks to Ian Hume's strike and soon they were one man down when Badji attempted to score with his hand. But all this was not going to stop Delhi as they soon equalized with Milan's heroic effort, Kolkata's Javi Lara was quick to react with another screamer. Once again Kolkata was leading and we needed a miracle.

Zambrotta decided to give Gadze rest and Florent Malouda took the number 9 position. Malouda after missing a penalty in the same match was determined to score and he did it in style. Showing his legendary footwork he tricked 3 defenders and placed the ball at the back of the net. The fans in the stadium (including me) went berserk, and with that draw, we had qualified for the Semis with 2 league games remaining.

The Semi-Finals

Delhi went into the first leg as favorites against Kerala, but the hosts were prepared, Steve Coppel had the game well planned, Kerala defended well and had most of the Delhi players under control, they had neutralized any threat from Delhi's midfield and played counter attacking football. They took the lead with a solo effort from Belfort and after that, it was all about stopping Lions from scoring. Hengbart did a brilliant goal-line clearance of a header from Marcelinho at that was the closest Delhi came to scoring a goal that day.

The second leg was at Den and we fans were least worried about the one goal advantage that Kerala had coming into the away leg, Delhi Dynamos were undefeated at home and had scored 18 goals in last 7 matches in the home, so scoring was not a problem.

Unfortunately, we picked up an early red card, Milan Singh had to leave the field and once again Delhi was left with 10 men in a very important match, the opener came soon when Marcelinho scored off a bad clearance and Kerala equalized quickly from a counter attack. The first half had ended 1:1.

For the rest of the match, it was Delhi doing all attacks, one after another Kerala somehow survived all that, the 10 men Delhi never looked a man down, Rocha looked determined to score one and he did soon.

But the game was not over, it was 2:2 on aggregate and we needed a winner and Lions looked very close to scoring one. Shouvik was running up and down the field, attacking then coming back to defend then attacking again, Marcelinho was taking shots at regular intervals, Florent Malouda was playing like some football god, it was now or never for the team and they gave their all. But it was not our day.

Finally, after all that 120 minutes of play, it was time for a penalty shootout which did not go well at all, the captain stepped up to take the first one and missed, then Pellisari stepped up and missed and finally, Nandy saved Memo's effort to win it for Kerala.

Hence, our ISL journey was over for 2016, even the critics admitted that the best team did not win it, Marcelineho received the Golden boot award and Malouda became the first Marquee to win Golden ball for his heroic display.
Zambrotta was proud of the team and the football they played, so were we the fans. Hope to see them all again next season. #RoarWithTheLions

Delhi Dynamos has played the beautiful game more beautifully than any other team in the league, players like Marcelineho, Malouda, Gadze and Kean have stolen the limelight but behind them had been an equally brilliant set of players who have played like they were on a mission.

A mission to win every game, they never let anyone dominate them and whenever the opposition has asked a question the Lions have replied with a Roar, a Roar capable of tearing apart any defense in the league.

Unbeaten at home, the only team to have achieved this feat this season, they move on to fight a team with the biggest set of fans, Kerala Blasters.

The first leg of the semifinals is at Kochi, where the fans will try their best to make it hard for Delhi but I'm sure it's going to bring the best out of the lions, the second leg is in the den which is good as
Delhi will have home support to finish things off.

Kerala would be high on confidence as they have had back to back wins, CK Vineeth is on fire but so are M2KG of Delhi. It's going to be one hell of a fight and the best will come out as the winner.

We are at a point where what we did is history which will soon be forgotten and what we do will create history which will remain forever.
Delhi Dynamos is clearly playing the best football in Indian Super League this season, with foreign players like Florent Malouda, Tebar, Roca, Toni and Gadze they can give any team nightmares and talk about nightmares then who better than Marcelinho.

Marcelineho with 5 goals and 5 assists is sitting on the top of the golden boot table and is a player to look forward to winning it this season. The USP of our team is in our Indian players, because when we see a game it's hard to figure out the difference between a foreign and Indian players, that's how well our team is this season.

Indian players like Shauvik, Anas, Kean, Milan and Sana have consistently played well but-but-but this is not it, we still have some hidden weapons which Zambrotta has been saving for the last and we could see them play for us soon.

Milan, Kean, and Anas are performing better than most of the foreign players in the league and we could see them playing in our national team soon.

With so many players playing their best football, others teams especially focus on our matches and come prepared because they know we are one team in the league which can not be taken lightly. So, our journey is not going to be easy, each and every team will look to give us a fight and we can not afford to be careless.

Next match is on 9th against Chennaiyan and we need a win, with the league being so tight, each and every win will cement our place in the semifinals and the sooner we qualify the better.

Delhi announced the signing of the West Bromwich U-18 team top scorer Samir Nabi on the historic day when we played West Brom in a friendly.

Samir Nabi who coincidently is the brother of Adil nabi who played and scored three goals for us last season is now missing from the squad, just like most people I was also wondering the reason behind that and now it seems clear why he was released from the squad.

An ISL team can have max 25 players including one marquee, 21 regular players, and three extra signings. We already had 24 players, so Delhi had the option to choose from Samir and Alwyn and they choose the latter, and even though it seems a little bit harsh, it was a smart move from the Lions management.

Zambrotta would have thought that keeping a young Indian signing would be better than keeping a less experienced foreign player for whom it would have been almost impossible to make it to the starting eleven where he would face tough competition from foreign players like Tebar and Florent Malouda.

Alwyn George would be a good signing and it would allow Zambrotta to use more foreign players in different positions. He would be a good competition to Milan singh in the midfield after he returns from his parent club Bengaluru FC. He will be match fit and mentally ready after competing in AFC cup with Bengaluru. We would surely miss seeing the talented player in Samir Nabi.

We are looking strong this season, we are organized and doing good in every aspect now the only thing we need is consistency. After the first big win, we have drawn two matches which we should have won. Now we have to defeat Mumbai City FC to make sure Northeast stays within our reach.

Precap to the last season

With the new season just around the corner, the excitement of us fans is sky rocketing. I am getting goosebumps by reliving the moments of last season.

Del Piero parted ways with us after the first season which was a real blow for us fans. But the think tank at Delhi Dynamos has always been quick to act and showed their commitment towards making Delhi Dynamos one of the best football clubs in India, they signed the legendary full back Roberto Carlos as the manager, a man whose free kicks caught everyone’s imagination in the late 90s and early 2000s. He brought with him his winning instincts and loads of experience he garnered during his tenure at the original Galacticos at Real Madrid.

The expectations were high with such a great personality in world football mentoring the best in India. The team lived up to its expectations with losing just 4 games, all being tightly contested encounters.

New Season, New hopes

With the beloved Roberto “ magical feet” Carlos leaving us to be part of the setup at Real Madrid, Zambrotta seized the occasion to be the 3rd manager of Delhi Dynamos in as many seasons.

He brings a lot to the table, having played at nearly all the major clubs you can think of – Juventus, Milan, Barça. He also has the mentality to win and the experience to clinch trophies, being a world cup winner himself. One striking thing about him is that Delhi Dynamos has an eye for full backs as managers, a planned strategy or just a coincidence? Why don’t you guys help with your analysis!

The preseason has been the most talked about feature about us till now. The proud friendly with West Bromwich Albion was Indian football's moment to arrive on the world stage. The WBA team that contained Chadli, their club record signing, had to face a stiff challenge from the Lions of the Capital. The 1-0 loss for us was a very proud moment and fills us with optimism for the season ahead.

Hope Old mistakes don’t haunt us

Last season our biggest weakness was not killing off games when we were in the driving seat.

The last game of the round robin stage when being 2-0 up at half time, we lost to Goa by 3 goals to 2. Same goes for the semi-finals, where after winning the first leg, we gave it all away in the second leg. I really hope we can bury this weakness and progress forward. Zambrotta with his great tactical knowledge (something Italian footballers are gifted with) will help us to overcome this

Verdict

All in all, everything seems to be amazing, the preseason was a full blown success, some great signings and a new manager with heaps of experience. I am very optimistic about this season.

Delhi Dynamos, Which became the first Indian Super League side to go head to head with a premier league club, gave a pretty tough fight to the home team last Saturday.

It was a day to remember for Indian Football fans. Where in Mumbai, India was toying with Puerto Rico and in England, Delhi Dynamos was battling West Bromwich Albion.

On the day when Delhi Dynamos friendly was announced a lot of people went on to predict a thrashing, But when finally the day came, they ended up praising the club for their quality performance against a stronger side. Absolutely no one other than the Delhi Fans themselves could have predicted such a strong performance by the Indian Super League side.

The baggies fielded a strong line-up in the friendly, Mohamed Sissoko, Maruane Chamakh, Craig Dawson , Jonas Olsson and Rahis Nabi, youngest of the Nabi brothers also featured for the baggies Where in their record signing Nancer Chadly made his debut along with Robson Kanu.

It was a day of great performances, the Indian lads did a pretty impressive job on the pitch. Rupert Nongrum, Shauvik Chakrabarti, Kean Lewis and Milan Singh looked very strong, Anas was playing well before being substituted because of a bad tackle on one of West Brom's Maruane Chamakh. Other than that our foreign signing David Addy impressed everyone with his pace and skills.

The Lions relied on counter attacks and everyone did their defensive work well, the side looked fit and ready, The fans did not get to see a lot in attack but Dynamos came close to scoring a few times, the best one when Kean Cobra Lewis took a shot from a distance coming from a counter attack which eventually hit the post.

West Brom scored in the 64th minute through a great finishing off a cross by their academy player James smith. Overall the game was very pleasing to the eye.

Delhi Dynamos's performance would have alerted a lot of teams, Delhi Dynamos will be a force to reckon with during this season of Indian Super League, Delhi has proved to be a strong contender for the trophy and the fans would be positive after the watching this game.
Delhi Dynamos have only announced three foreign signings this season namely last year's goalkeeper Toni Doblas, former Chennaiyan FC midfielder Bruno Pelissari and the Brazilian winger Marcelinho. The squad is in England for their pre-season, and the fans in India are still wondering Who their foreign signings would be?

Delhi has been doing everything so secretly that sometimes fans start to question, But our president Prashant Aggarwal on his twitter account has been telling the fans to be patient and that the announcements of some legendary players would be coming soon.

So, I decided to do some research, to try and find out about some of the players who could sign for us this season. Honestly, Google Baba had no answers, so I took the other way. I went to Our President Prashant Aggarwal's Twitter account for answers and I got some names!!

Our President only follows 135 people, out of which I found some players who, according to me had no chance of being followed by our President unless they've had some talks or shared some interests with each other.

Our president Follows Florent Malouda, Roberto Carlos, Sergineho Greene, Hans Mulder, Ian Hume, Bruno Pelissari, Vinicius, Toni Doblas, Anas Edathodika, Elano Blumer and some other football players which seem totally understandable. But the players I am about to list here fit into the category of an ISL signing and are not too happy with their clubs. Furthur, our president also follows Kostas Kasturanes who (according to news reports) he tried to sign as a marquee last season but the league denied that request.

Before I start naming them one by one I would like to admit that I could be sooo wrong with all this, but we have reasons to suspect. Further, I invite you guys to do your research and correct me if I'm wrong.

Some of the players on this list are very high profile but as our President tweeted about "Legends" I am led to believe it's possible.

Let's Start with the most obvious players

Florent Malouda and Richard Gadze

As I stated in my previous article the fact that both of the above-mentioned players are contracted to Delhi Dynamos and most likely to play for them.

And then we have

Freddy Adu

Delhi has already signed 16 players out of which they have only signed two foreign players namely last year's wall Toni Doblas and Chenaiyan FC's fans favorite Bruno Pelissari. The rest are domestic signings comprising of last year's top performer Anas Edathodika and Sauvik Chakraborty.

The domestic signings made until now have been pretty unexpected and impressive, signing a lot of lesser known faces and giving chances to talented strikers like 26 years old Arjun Tudu and U19 international Ashique Kurunian have been the highlight. With the signings of young and talented players like Kean Lewis and Amoes Do, Delhi Dynamos look to create a whole new set of players who would be exclusively known as Delhi Dynamos Lions.

Richard Gadze, who was sent on a loan deal to HJK might not return to the Den this season. On May 13th this year it was announced that Richard Gadze will be heading to Helsinki to play for Finnish top flight club HJK.

It was a first of its kind transfer for any ISL team, on loan for 1 year. Richard Gadze has impressed a lot after coming back from an injury he sustained during the start of his stint. He has still not scored a single goal for the club even after coming very close time to time. But everything other than that has been top class, his passing, dribbling and ball control mixed with some good runs has only increased his value for the Helsinki side and us, the Dynamos fans.

Where is the problem then?

The problem comes when we look at the duration for which he was sent to the European club. If we go according to the news, his contract would be ending after December and till then ISL season 3 would be over. Only Delhi Dynamos officials can confirm whether he will return or not.

There is hope but very little, Richard Gadze has clearly become an important member of HJK squad and the coach has always shown trust in him, having him start in even the most important matches for the club shows his interest in the Ghanian forward. It would be very unlikely for them to release him for ISL if Gadze is contract bound to them.

Richard Gadze seems to have a very bright future and big fans following, playing in Europe will be best for him but ISL can not be taken lightly, it has the potential to make careers and we have seen that in the case of Steven Mendoza. As fans, we can only hope for the best and be a little selfish(joke).

The Brazilian forward who wowed the fans during the last two seasons has disappeared completely from the net. Passionate fans like me have been googling his name every fortnight in a hope of finding some news about the youngster.

He last played a match for Luverdense in Brazil after being loaned out by his parent club Atletico Paraneanse, but due to some unknown reason he had to move from Luverdense to Sampaio Correa where he never featured in the starting line-up, he was last seen on 21st May as a substitution on the bench.

One could assume it's some injury which could have possibly occurred during training, leading to wingers disappearance from the footballing scene for more two months now. Ever since he had signed for Sampaio Correa, it became incredibly difficult to follow him.

All this has created a doubt whether the sensational winger would return to ISL this season or not. As a fan, one could only hope for his well being and pray that he return to the Den again this season. After the signing of Pelissari his former teammate from his days at Atletico Parneanse, Dos Santos looks like a key to a possibly amazing partnership. He has to return at any cost.

I-League vs ISL has become a topic of debate between many football fans in India. Since Indian Super League's inauguration in 2014, I-League clubs have been against it. They boycotted it in the first season for reasons unknown due to which big names of Indian football were absent from the league.

It seems unfair to some that ISL will be made the top tier of Indian football and League 1 the second tier without the luxury of getting promoted to ISL, AIFF suggested this plan and most of the football fans welcomed it with open hands but I-league clubs had something else in their mind.

I-League clubs are ignoring the positives in this, first of all, AIFF only suggested it they didn't impose it, second, they asked for suggestions from the clubs and according to my information no I-league club has till now given them one, I-league clubs are just worrying about surviving.

So how does this work?

As far as my understanding goes just by calling ISL the top tier of football doesn't make it one, I've been already reading articles in foreign media claiming ISL to be India's top tier, so the world already thinks ISL is India's top-tier football league.

But-But-But! this does not make League One any smaller, AIFF proposed that top ISL and league one clubs will clash for places in AFC competitions, and here we go only the top tier clubs of a country play in AFC and whichever club will win whether it is from league 1 or ISL will be considered top tier.

The other thing is I-league clubs have a lot of history but not significant enough, they have not achieved any big feat during their long history, Some of them have not been able to even make a fan base despite being so old. The argument is they don't have money, no they have money but they lack vision. Let's take an example of BFC, this club is new but the owners have a vision they really want to do something good for Indian football they have actually managed to do it in their short history, they had a vision but other I-league clubs fail to even provide proper facilities to their players.

Now I-league clubs have competition and big clubs like Mohun Bagan and East Bengal have realized it but it is too late. Now the only thing that feels good for Indian football is I-league clubs accepting the proposal and giving ISL a chance to do something positive for Indian Football and the footballers.

Big money in ISL has attracted huge attention now and it will also profit League-1 clubs in the long run. When football becomes big in the county, ISL will open up to more and more clubs, and its will only take a few years for ISL clubs to start making a profit, then ISL can afford promotions and relegation first let the investment return.

This conflict needs to end quick or Indian football will suffer, It won't harm ISL that much but it will seriously affect I-league clubs. I-league clubs have been there done that and now they should let ISL try, just for the sake of Indian football.

Furthur I have shared a post on my Facebook page in which Delhi United FC one of Delhi's top clubs have given some suggestions to AIFF and I-League clubs, you should go check that out.
